September in Texas brings a sense of hope that the scorching hot weather might be coming to an end. I am so looking forward to some cooler weather! As school gets back into full swing, I am reminded how important it is to create a caring classroom at the beginning of the year. Our babies come into our classrooms from a variety of backgrounds and situations....some more sad than I can imagine. School maybe the safest, most comfortable place in their lives....so I need to take the time to make sure our classroom is a caring place full of acceptance and respect! Here a couple of pins I plan to use in my class this month.

I love to recognize the greatness of the students in my class. This "new to me" idea uses reading and writing to recognize students and reinforce positive behavior choices. Sounds like the perfect combination to me!

Unfortunately, kids can be really mean to each other. They don't seem to understand how painful their words can be to a friend or classmate. This pin show a great visual to show the power of the spoken word.
