It is always a little sad when the holiday season is over. January is always packed full of learning and fun in my class. Marissa from The Inspired Owl's Corner and I are excited to host this month's Pick 3 Pinterest Party.
Here are a few of the ideas that I have found on Pinterest that I plan to use during the month of January with my students.
It always seems that my students forget a few things over the Christmas holiday.

I love this idea to have a snowman shop. I will have to change up the value of items to make it more appropriate for my class but I think it would be a great way to review counting money and making change.
This was one of my favorite activities from last winter.

After discussing adjectives and descriptive writing, my students wrote a narrative "If I Lived in a Snow Globe." My lil' pups did a great job adding descriptive words to their stories and the snow globes make the most adorable display.
This activity works great in conjunction with The Snow Globe Family. This cute book tells the story of a family living inside a snow globe that is just like the family that owns the snow globe.
We study animals from Antarctica and the Arctic during the month of January.

I love this idea for a diorama because it allows the kids a place to write about their learning.

Hi, I am dying to do that snow globe activity- so cute. I hadn't seen the snowman store before but that is a useful idea, even if simply put in to the drama area. And I have to figure out how to get the pinterest feed on my posts as it is a very nice blog addition. THANKS for this great monthly linky. LOVE it. Kathleen

I just LOVE this linky and as soon as I get done leaving this comment, I'm heading over to my blog and double posting today. I am so glad I saw your snowman shop idea. It made me think of another use for it. I think I might make my own pennies (paper copy so they have to earn them) and let my students "buy" their snowman pieces when they do positive things in our classroom. I am thinking they'll enjoy earning their snowman and being proud of how they help others. Also, I have been working on my Thematic Thursday boards for January over break. The themes are MLK, Winter and Snowy Fun, Penguins, and Polar Bears. You might find pins on the Penguin and Polar Bear boards you can use with Arctic Animals. Great pins and great linky! Thanks so much!
